After much deliberation, the locals allowed the police to retrieve the body and send it to Ramanathapuram Government Hospital for an autopsy. The locals then set the shrimp farm on fire and attacked some farm workers who they suspected were responsible for the crime. Since Tuesday night, villagers have been demonstrating near Telkok’s office, demanding justice.
Speaking to Indianexpress.com, Director of Ramanathapuram Police E Karthik said they are still investigating the incident and will provide details only after the death. These (gang rape and murder) are allegations so far. We are investigating, and we have detained some people we suspect may be involved in this business. The protests are still going on. They are asking for Rs 1 crore and a government job for the family,” said Karthik.
