An encounter is underway in Bhakna village near Punjab’s Attari border between the police and two gangsters believed to be involved in the killing of singer and politician Sidhu Mooswala. The encounter took place after the police received input that gangsters — Manpreet Singh alias Mannu Kusa and Jagroup Singh alias Roopa — were hiding in the village.

According to reports, heavy police force of Amritsar-Rural district has cordoned off the entire village. Hundreds of rounds were fired from both sides.

One of the robbers sustained bullet injuries, but it is not yet certain whether he is alive or dead, said a senior police officer, who did not wish to be named.

A police team was led by DSP Bikram Brar and Inspector Sivakumar of the Anti-Robbery Squad.

On May 29, Shubdeep Singh Sidhu alias Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead in Punjab’s Mansa district.
