Delhi University on Thursday asked its 32 colleges to expedite the appointment of regular school principals, officials said. In a letter, it also asked these colleges to keep appointments for teaching and non-teaching positions until the time principals are appointed. Currently, these 32 colleges affiliated with Delhi University do not have regular principals, officials said.
“There are a total of 32 colleges where there are no regular principals. We have asked these colleges to speed up the process of hiring principals,” said Balaram Bani, dean of colleges at DU. In the letter to college governing bodies, the assistant registrar said that the assignment of teaching positions should not be allowed He changed teaching, whether on a contract, ad hoc or regular basis, until a regular principal was appointed.
The colleges were informed to take urgent action in holding a selection committee meeting to appoint a regular director of the college. “In the meantime, keep matters relating to the assignment of teaching and non-teaching positions on contract, ad hoc, guest or regular basis,” the letter added. The university also said that if any action is taken to fill the teaching and non-teaching positions, it will be considered void.
