Delhi: MCD to start digital correspondence with citizens as it plans revamp

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) said it will now digitally match citizens to increase transparency and speedy delivery. With this move starting this week, the company is trying to ensure a corruption-free ecosystem through an efficient and transparent digital system in managing municipal taxes and helping the city thrive, a senior official at the Ministry of Civil Development said.

The Ministry of Civil Development said in a press release that citizens should update their mobile phone numbers and email addresses associated with the Unique Property Identification Code (UPIC) for the smooth flow of communication.

The civil authority said it has also decided to issue all notices u/s 123 A, B, C, D of the DMC Act of 1957, online and assess them digitally to UPIC and in the form of letters on mobile phone numbers registered against the citizen’s UPIC and also through e-mail as It is mentioned in the UPIC profile.

Officials said they noted that in a large number of cases, taxpayer phone numbers and email IDs were not mentioned or incorrectly mentioned. Hence, to facilitate management towards this great leap towards an efficient and transparent digital system, the company requested the cooperation of citizens and urgently update their property addresses, mobile phone numbers and email ID against a UPIC profile, they added. .

Citizens can update their mobile phone number or email by visiting the MCD website at and clicking “Select Your Service Area”. They can edit the required details like name, father’s name, mobile number, email and then click refresh button to save them.
