Days after the disappearance of a 27-year-old woman from her rented home in Govindpuri, southeast Delhi, her partner and his friends were arrested for allegedly killing her and dumping her body in Dankor in Uttar Pradesh. The woman’s body was recovered 7-10 days after the murder.
The accused, 43-year-old Umprakash, strangled the woman to death after a fight over money, police said, adding that she had lent money to a neighbor which upset Prakash’s mother and allegedly beat her.
The incident took place on June 26-27 but the matter was revealed on July 2 when the landlord reported that the tenant had gone missing.
“The homeowner suspected that someone had kidnapped her,” said Isha Pandey, DCP (South East), adding, “After several raids and questioning of the accused’s family members, the men were arrested.”
