A man filed a police complaint on Friday alleging that he was scammed into money and valuables worth 12,000 rupees by a woman who married him in 2020, but it was later revealed that he was a ‘bride’. Police said they filed an FIR at Adarsh Nagar Police Station based on a complaint from Ajay Kumar, who said he met the woman online through an app and lured her into marriage.
“She told me that she wanted to live a good life in Delhi. She took loans from banks and bought household items. I also set up a small clothing business. She told me that she had three children and insisted on bringing them.”
He added that the woman did not have any divorce documents from her ex-husband. “I ran away in August 2021 with everything,” Kumar said in his complaint. Kumar said that after her escape, he checked her background only to find that she had also deceived others in a similar way.
He said he also tracked down her ex-husbands, and one of them allegedly threatened to kill him. Kumar claimed that he tried to file complaints with the police in Delhi and Faridabad, but was released after being questioned.
Inspector Sandeep Kumar, Station Police Officer (SHO) at Adarsh Nagar Police Station, said the FIR against the woman and others has been registered.
