Delhi Capitals’ Co-Owner Parth Jindal Faces Backlash For his Remarks On Twitter

Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 matches are about to end. While Lucknow, Gujarat and Rajasthan have wrapped up their positions in the qualifiers, there is only one place left to grab. Currently, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is placed fourth. The Delhi Capitals (DC) will face off against the Indians of Mumbai (Michigan) in a day or death showdown. This match is important for Delhi as a win can help them reach the playoffs, but if they lose, that will be the end of their journey in IPL 2022. Before the Delhi-Mumbai clash, Parth Jindal, co-owner of Delhi Capitals, made a sarcastic statement that did not align with a section of users on Twitter.

On May 20, right after the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans faced off, Jindal tweeted, “I’ve never liked anyone doing us any favors anyway – the equation is simple – we win on Saturday and have a chance to move forward in the IPL. if We don’t – so we’re out and we don’t deserve to be in the playoffs, I have full faith in my boys – let’s do this.”

Jindal’s tweet was not well received by Twitterati, who criticized the DC co-owner for making such a scathing remark. “If you’re in a situation like this where DC’s chances depend on another team and if that team wins and DC gets the playoffs, does your team suddenly leave the tournament?” User wrote.

Another tweeted, “I’ve never liked anyone doing us a favor” What do you get from that statement? Nobody does anyone a favor. They are all just playing. Nobody chose to be in such a position but in such a long tournament it creates this situation.”

Saturday’s match against Mumbai is a virtual ‘Quarter-final’ match in the Indian Premier League for Rishabh Bant. While Delhi has it all on the line, Mumbai is willing to sign off the season on a winning note.

Bangalore is in fourth place, but with a negative run rate (-0.253). If Delhi can beat the Mumbai Indians, they will jump to fourth place as the current run rate (+0.255) itself is much better.
