Delhi BJP chief writes to Amit Shah on incidents of buses catching fire, demands CBI probe

BJP Delhi unit chief Adesh Gupta has written a letter to Federal Home Minister Amit Shah demanding a CBI investigation into the multiple incidents of DTC buses.

Gupta said that in the past few months, six Delhi Transport Company (DTC) buses were reduced to ashes after a fire broke out, and that describes how poorly everything has been managed. He said in his letter to Amit Shah.

The BJP leader said the government led by Arvind Kejriwal said in an affidavit in court that 11,000 buses were needed. Gupta said the DTC buses are over capacity, and most buses are generally 8 to 12 years old and many are 12 years old. “The bus is not being repaired or improved. That is because those buses that are over capacity cannot be repaired and if that happened one would not have seen them burn in the middle of the road.”

He also alleged corruption in the money spent on repairing old DTC buses and demanded the Central Bank of Iraq to investigate the matter.
