Delhi: 28-year-old ‘raped’ in Dwarka by man she met on dating app, case registered

An FIR report was registered after a 28-year-old woman alleged that a man raped her in a five-star hotel in Delhi’s Dwarka district, police said, adding that no one has been arrested in the case.

DCP (Dwarka) M Harsha Vardhan said, “A case of rape was registered after they received a complaint from a woman who worked in a store previously. She claimed that she met the accused on Tinder and then went to a hotel in Dwarka where he sexually assaulted her. The accused has not yet answered her calls. That and an FIR report was filed against him. The accused is a resident of Hyderabad and efforts are underway to arrest him.”

The woman told police in her complaint that she met the accused, known as Mohak Gupta, on a dating app on May 27. After some messages, they exchanged their numbers and decided to meet, according to the complaint. On May 30, they went to a leading hotel where he gave her a drink containing sedatives, the woman alleged in her complaint.

The complainant stated that she lost consciousness after drinking the drink and that he allegedly raped her. On May 31, he dropped her off at the metro station and later hung up his phone. Later the woman approached the police and filed a complaint. On the basis of her complaint, the FIR was registered under IPC sections 376 (rape) and 328 (poisoning) at Dwarka Police Station Sector 23,” said a senior police officer.

After recording the flight information report, the investigation officer approached the hotel management and examined the CCTV footage. “The accused is currently fleeing and we are conducting raids to arrest him,” the officer said.
