New satellite images suggest China has built a third village 9 km east of the Doklam plateau on the Bhutan side. NDTV in association with Maxar Technologies has released images revealing China’s extensive land acquisition in Bhutan, including a neatly marked, all-weather carriageway next to a village that gives the People’s Liberation Army access to a strategic mountain on the Doklam Plateau. In 2017, Indian and Chinese armies were locked in a 73-day standoff at the Doklam tri-junction. The stand-off took place after China tried to build a road on the Bhutan side.
