Two killed as a canter collides with a truck on Ludhiana’s National Highway

Two people were killed when a canter collided with a speeding truck on a national highway near Kanganwal on Saturday.

The impact of the collision was so strong that Kulawant Singh (40) and Satnam Singh (18) of Baghpuran died on the spot. His partner Sukhman was severely injured. The driver of the canter quickly escaped and left the vehicle.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Rajavant Singh, who is investigating the case, was struck by a truck on the other side of the road after the driver of the vehicle near Kanganwal crossed the Canter Road separator.

Sukhman was transported to the Civil Hospital from where he was shifted to the Patilia Rajendra Hospital. The victims had come to the city to feed. He was standing on Service Lane asking for his address.

A case has been registered against an unknown driver under section 279 (reckless driving), 304A (death by negligence), 338 (negligence of human life) and 427 (damage) by the Indian Penal Code.
