Panchayat Minister Bamang Felix said the BJP has secured 102 out of 130 panchayat seats without opposition in Arunachal Pradesh where by-elections are scheduled for next week.
By-elections for 130 seats in the panchayats and Zila Parisad constituency were scheduled for July 12.
Out of 130 seats in the panchayats, the BJP had 102 unopposed seats. Felix said another 14 seats were secured unopposed by Congress, the National Congress Party and independents.
BJP candidates won all Panchayat seats unopposed in Tawang, West Kameng, East Kameng, Pakke Kisang, Kamil, Upper Subansiri, West Siang, Upper Siang, Namsay, Siang, Lower Siang, Terap, Changlang and Longding districts districts.
In Kurong Komi, the BJP won five seats unopposed, while its ally, the NPP, won one seat.
The Congress managed to secure the Gangte-I gram panchayat seat in Kra Daadi unchallenged, while the BJP won all the other four seats.
Prime Minister Bima Khandu tweeted, “Congratulations and thanks to all Karyakartas, supporters and sympathizers for the election of 102 non-clinical BJP4 Arunachal candidates in the by-election to 130 constituencies in Gram Panchayat in Arunachal Pradesh.” Union Law Minister Keren Rego said the people of Arunachal Pradesh have full confidence in the leadership of the Chief Minister, who is working tirelessly to fulfill their aspirations.
Deputy Prime Minister Chuna Min said the victory was a result of the people’s confidence in the BJP government in the center led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the state.
