“All roads, shops, establishments and markets are open here. We do not tolerate any anarchy here. Police are ready to tackle anti-social elements that seek to vandalize public property. “We do not expect any law and order problem to arise here,” said Suman Nalwa, PRO of Delhi Police, said the news agency ANI.

Speaking about the elaborate security arrangements made by the force, the official said that this was done because other states had intelligence input groups to protest in the city.

Traffic was seen on the roads connecting Delhi with its satellite cities, as police put up barricades to block any possible movement of protesters from neighboring states. A particular image, a Massive Traffic Jam On the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway, social media has gone viral.

Meanwhile, members of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) were sitting in front of a train at the suburban Shivaji Bridge station, before being removed by the security forces.

Although Bharat Band is celebrated in many states, including Delhi, it is not clear which organization or group of organizations has called the bandh.
