Bollywood in 2022 has so far been highly dependent on public sentiment or all-India titles. While the former influenced the theatrical performance of issues such as The Kashmir Files, Samrat Prithviraj and Bhol Bahliah 2The year was dominated by Indian dubbed versions of regional films.
anyway Kashmir files (Rs 257 crore) and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (Rs 160 crore) emerged as Bollywood’s biggest revenue in the first half of 2022, mainly due to positive word of mouth and big box office bombing. The first ignited painful memories of a chapter in India that are still fresh in our minds. The latter, giving a respite from the scarcity of respected Indian family artists, also gave a career leap to Kartik Aaryan.
Magnum Akshay Kumar authorship Samrat Prithviraj It also kept the audience divided whether or not the historical piece depicted the tale in an original way. Amidst all of this, the dubbed version of Southern cinema was beloved and sparked controversy over all-Indian films.
As we enter the second half of 2022, we look back and list the Hindi films, which have outdone themselves, and the films that have sunk without a trace in the minds of the public.

Best Hindi Movies of 2022 so far
How can SS Rajamouli get it right every time? A successful film is a compilation of many elements – a script supported by the author, extracting the best from the actors, and understanding the pulse of the audience. RRR delivered a heavy dose of action, heroism, history, legends and right marketing. And the way actors Ram Charan and Jr NTR bring their revolutionary characters to life has really expanded their reach. The movie is now a big hit in the US, find out.
The first part has already raised the standard for not only franchise, but also Kannada cinema. But, KGF 2 surpassed it all, and with even more fanfare. Adheera (Sanjay Dutt)’s final entry, along with the socio-political stratification that paralleled the story in its prequel, played well. And then we had the star power of Yash, who got the honor of audience outside Karnataka too. KGF 2 had a clean sweep at the box office.
The biological crime drama made Alia Bhatt play the role of a lifetime. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s signature panel, along with some amazing performances, has made Gangubai a must watch in terms of content, direction and screenplay. Based on a chapter from S.’s book, we are expecting many more awards for Alia Bhatt this year.
When content plays out, a simple movie can work wonders, too. Badhaai Ho was one of those who first explored the concept of “lavender marriage” on the silver screen in India. A spiritual sequel to Badhaai Ho (2018), it stars Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar as homosexuals, coming to an arrangement to keep their “secret” from their families. The film balanced its message with humor and drama, ensuring it didn’t turn into a lecture.
Amitabh Bachchan led this inspiring story of a group of slum children who were trained to represent India in football. Although the film failed to achieve gold at the box office, it was rich in Big B performances as Vijay Barse, founder of the non-governmental organization Slum Soccer. Directed by Nagraj Manjule, this sports drama deserves more love. It is one of the best works on display this year and among the best works of Amitabh Bachchan in recent times.
Worst Hindi movies of 2022 so far
Although we had more names under the worst category, we chose three, including Gehraiyaan. More than all the hype around the physical intimacy of Deepika Padukone and Siddhanth Chaturvedi, if the makers better tackle the topic of marriage, infidelity and relationships, Gehraiyaan could be a mature love story. And that plot twist ruined everything for the movie! I have sunk into the “gehraiyaan” of disappointment from the audience.
If only it was half as watchable as it was described. Kangana Ranaut looked like a sexy spy/assassin agent. But after the release, we realized how deceitful the trailer was. With no story and poor directing, even Kangana’s performance couldn’t save her agent Agni from a sad death at the box office. Her collision with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 also affected her group.
However, Nikamma’s trailer wasn’t deceptive. We knew this was going to be pure rot. But upon its release, it was revealed that Shilpa Shetty’s return was dated, loud, and worthless. We can’t help but wonder why Abhimanyu Dassani took on such projects after his debut in Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota. Nikama could have been dated in the 1990s.
