Bengaluru police on Tuesday cracked a kidnapping case within three hours, rescued a kidnapped college student and arrested a gang of four in the case with the help of Chitradurga police.
Anoop A Shetty, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), North East, Bengaluru, took to Twitter to share the details of the case. Yalahanka police with the help of Chitradurga police traced the abduction of the student within 3 hours. 4 accused have been arrested. Thanks to Chitradurga district police for timely help,” Shetty wrote.
According to a Times of India report, the accused have been identified as Ramesh Rathore (43), Rizwan Patel (23), Indrajit Pawar (23) and Harish Kumar (24). All the four are residents of Kalaburagi and main accused Rathore owns some toor dal mills.
The victim, Jagadish (19), from Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh, is a first-year BBA student at a private college in Yalahanka, Bangalore. Jagdish had shared a flat with some friends on Muneshwarnagar road in Kattigenahalli where he was abducted.
Investigation revealed that Jagdish’s father and uncle were among the businessmen who were buying pulses from Rathore. ₹3 crores. After several attempts to get his money back failed, Rathore allegedly planned to kidnap Jagadish and demand the ransom of his dues.
Rathore along with three other men arrived at Jagadish’s flat in two SUVs, his own Toyota Fortuner and a friend’s Toyota Innova. As he was being dragged in the Innova, a classmate of Jagdish entered the registration number of the vehicle and immediately informed the police.
The vehicle was soon traced using FASTtag details and the Chitradurga police was alerted after the cars were spotted moving towards Hiriyur town near Chitradurga. They conducted an operation and arrested the accused. The accused and the police were on the trail and left Jagdish near Sira in Tumkur.
During interrogation, the accused have admitted that they tried to abduct. Jagdish’s father Suresh has been summoned by the police to verify Rathod’s statement. Further investigation is underway.
