Passengers who arrived in Bengaluru on Air India flight from Maldives were reportedly forced to wait more than 20 minutes at the international arrival terminal on Wednesday night after security personnel were unable to open the arrival gate.
In a statement, Bangalore Airport International Limited (BIAL) said 113 passengers on Air India flight AI266 from Mali to Bengaluru, had to wait at the gate to the terminal after exiting the plane. The security personnel deployed at the gate could not immediately open the glass door and asked for help from the supervisor who opened the door. After that, all 113 passengers were able to clear the area very quickly.”
A spokesperson added: “We are working with relevant stakeholders to ascertain the causes and take the necessary precautionary steps. BIAL’s priority has always been to provide a seamless travel experience for passengers and we will ensure that we are working with our stakeholders so that they are sensitized to avoid a recurrence of such incidents in the future.”
Journalist Veer Sangvi, who tweeted about the incident, claimed that the delay was due to the loss of the gate key.
