Bayern Munich Complete Signing of Midfielder Ryan Gravenberch From Ajax

Bayern Munich completed the deal of Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch from Ajax Amsterdam on Monday.

The Bavarian power said the 20-year-old Grafenberg had signed a contract until 2027.

“Gravenbrich is a very interesting young player, which many of the major European clubs would like to sign. He chose Bayern Munich because he can develop at the highest level here,” said Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn.

Gravenberch, who came through the Ajax youth academy producing, made his debut for his first team at the age of 16 and made 103 appearances. He won three Dutch league titles and two Dutch Cups with Ajax, where he had a contract until 2023.

Kicker magazine reported that Bayern paid 18.5 million euros ($19.3 million) to the Ajax player with bonus terms attached. Dutch media have reported that Ajax will be owed 7.5% of any selling fees.

Gravenbrich made his Dutch debut last year and made 10 appearances for the national team.

“He is one of the biggest talents in Europe, he has great technical ability, he always finds solutions in tight spaces, he is very dynamic and a threat to goals,” said Hasan Salihamidzic, Bayern sporting director.

Bayern quoted Gravenbrich as saying when the club’s offer arrived, “I didn’t have to think about it for long.”

He joined former Ajax teammate Nossair Mazraoui, whom Bayern had already signed on a free transfer deal on May 24.
