An army recruitment rally under the Agnipath scheme will be organized for candidates from Pune and five other districts of Maharashtra at Mahatma Phul Krishi Vidyapeth at Rahori in Ahmednagar between 23 August and 11 September.
Earlier in June, the Department of Defense announced its new “Agnipath” initiative to recruit soldiers for the three services. Under this defense conscription reform, approved by the Cabinet’s Security Committee, soldiers will be drafted annually. While the appointment is for four years, out of total annual recruits, about 25 percent of each batch of Agniveers will be enrolled in the armed forces’ regular cadre and required to serve a 15-year engagement period.
The recruitment drive in Ahmednagar is organized for the categories of Agniveer General Duty, Agniveer Technical, Agniveer Clerk, Store Keeper Technical and Agniveer Tradesman. A press release issued by the army through Defense PRO, Pune said candidates from Pune, Beed, Ahmednagar, Latur, Osmanabad and Solapur districts are eligible to participate in the rally.
“For the process, candidates are to register and apply online on the Indian Army website http://www.joinindianarmy.nic.in. Admission cards for candidates who self-register will be posted online on their registered email addresses. Candidates are advised to pass the eligibility criteria with caution. Candidates registered for the recruitment drive will be subject to the terms and conditions of the Agnipath Recruitment Scheme. They will be registered for four years to serve the nation.” The statement said.
The statement further said, “Prospective candidates will be screened at the local level and collection as scheduled 20 days. Candidates will be biometric validated and pool entry cards will be scanned before candidates are allowed to take the actual selection tests, which are in three phases – physical exams, medical exams and the joint entrance exam (written exam). Those with proven physical and medical fitness will take an entrance test and the candidates selected at final merit will then be invited to join the Indian Army under the Agnipath scheme to serve the nation.”
She added, “Candidates are advised to ensure the correct procedures are followed while registering online. They must hold all required original educational certificates, sufficient number of photo copies, and a valid affidavit as per the format given in the notification to the race grounds. No candidate will be allowed to enter the rally without an affidavit.
