Anushka’s film Chakda Express marks the inspirational journey of India’s most famous fast bowler, Julan Goswami. Hailing from the small town of Chakda in West Bengal, Julan developed a passion for cricket in spite of various obstacles on her way. The film revolves around the highlights of her career, her rise to prominence as one of the greatest women cricketers India has ever produced, persuading her parents and breaking stereotypes. The film will be released on Netflix in the second quarter of 2022.
Directed by Prosit Roy, the film returns four years later with Anushka again. The actor was last seen in the 2018 film Zero. “Anushka is the obvious choice because the story spans 12 years, so it needs someone (big). It’s a big budget film and you need big actors to mount it and make it out to justify the budget. Filmmaker Karnesh Sharma told PTI.
When asked about the criticism that came to Anushka when the first look of Chakda Express was released, some social media users praised the actor’s appearance and others said that she does not look like Julian Goswami and that her Bengali accent is not good. Reactions, both good and bad.
