The toughest competition is expected to be in opposition-ruled states like Rajasthan and Maharashtra, as both sides have pooled MLAs into resorts to prevent poaching.

All eyes are on the vote for the crucial Rajya Sabha elections scheduled to be held today (Friday 10th June) amid allegations of poaching and horse trading for 16 seats spread over the four states of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan and Haryana. Opposition-ruled states such as Rajasthan and Maharashtra are expected to see the toughest competition, as both sides have pooled MLAs into resorts to prevent poaching. Notable contenders include Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Piush Goyal and Congressman Randeep Surjwala, Jeram Ramesh, Mukul Wasnik and Sanjay Raut of Shiv Sena.

While there were 57 vacant seats, 41 were filled as candidates here won unopposed. News18 takes a look at these picks:
