Ambala Range Rover mishap: Driver also booked for misbehaving with police

Two days after a speeding Range Rover SUV crashed into a parked car on Ambala’s NH-44, killing one person and injuring three others, its driver was also booked for disorderly conduct with police on duty.

A resident of Palampur, Mohit Sharma, was killed and his wife Deepthi and two daughters were injured.

After the accident, the SUV driver, identified as Variyata Janglan (26), a resident of Panipat, was arrested and sent to the Central Jail of Ambala.

On the complaint of Inspector Suraj Chawla, Superintendent Suraj Chawla, Station House Officer (SHO), Dipti, a case has been filed against the SUV driver under section 353 (assault or criminal force to restrain a public servant from his duty). The Penal Code (IPC), Section 304 of the IPC (not criminal homicide) and 337 (infringement on the act of endangering the life or personal safety of others) and 323 (voluntarily causing pain) and Section 184 and 185 of the IPC Motor Vehicles Act.

The complaint alleges that the driver of the official vehicle and the juvenile who accompanied her were behaving inappropriately with the female police.

The videos also came out after police personnel had a hard time handling two women at the civil hospital and police station. “We are reviewing the role of the other woman in the improper conduct claim and action will be taken accordingly. A medical report specifying the consumption of alcohol is expected, ”the inspector added.
