With the monsoon season approaching, LG Vinai Kumar Saxena has directed the Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) and New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) to identify hazardous buildings within their jurisdiction that are prone to collapse or damage, and to ensure that measures are taken to prevent any kind of untoward incidents. Civilian agencies have been directed to take action and submit a report within two weeks.

607 people were locked up in the outer area of Delhi in a crackdown conducted against people drinking in public places on Saturdays and Sundays. Police said the offenders will be slapped under section 40a (drinking alcohol in a public place) of the Delhi tax law. The police said that the campaign was launched to send a clear message to violators of the need to limit the consumption of alcoholic beverages in public places and reduce alcohol crimes.
After learning on her own of a video clip on social media purporting to show a man abusing a young girl because of her religion, the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) sent a notice to the police to demand action against the accused. Police said that although a picture of the notice was posted on social media, they have not yet received a copy. The video allegedly shows a man using sectarian insults and abusing a minor, while asking her to insult her religion and god. He also appears to be threatening to “hit her hard”. “The guy is clearly intimidating a girl who can be seen clearly frightened and shocked… It’s a very serious matter,” DCW President Swati Maliwal said in a notice to DCP (Cyber Crime).
