Afghan YouTuber Ajmal Haqiqi Detained By Taliban For Allegedly Hurting Islamic Sentiments

Ajmal Haqiqi, a famous Afghan mastermind, was seen disoriented in a video released by the Afghan Directorate of General Intelligence (GDI) – now under the control of the Taliban terrorist group – on Tuesday.

The Taliban rulers in Afghanistan considered the video an insult to the Islamic holy book, the Qur’an, and also to the founder of Islam, the Prophet Muhammad.
Wahiqi is known among Afghan social media users for his comedy and videos related to Afghan ethnic fashion.

He appears with Ghulam Sakhi – his stepson – in most of his videos.

The two short tapes showed the young man with a strong fan following tired out while also looking like he might have been beaten in custody.

A fact can be heard saying in the video: “I apologize to the Afghan people, respected religious scholars and the government of the Islamic Emirate.” Haqqi also tried to make Sakhi apologize in the video.

“No one may insult or ridicule the verses of the Qur’an, the hadiths of the Prophet and the Islamic sanctities in the era of the Islamic regime. Those who insulted and ridiculed the verses of the Holy Qur’an were recently arrested,” the video was accompanied by the commentary from the Taliban-run GDI.

Two other men appeared with Sakhi and Haqiqi but their identity is still unknown.

The issue was raised when real laughter while Sakhi imitated Quran recitations in a funny voice. Sakhi is known to suffer from mental health issues.

The video posted on the real channel has been removed, but the number of views on his other videos indicates that he is still popular among the YouTube audience in Afghanistan mainly because of his clever and fun way of conversation.

Free thinkers, atheists, members of religious minorities, hundreds of journalists and free press activists are still in the crosshairs of the terrorist group after it took power on August 15 last year after America exited the nation after two decades of war.

Girls of all ages also face the wrath of the Taliban as schools and colleges continue to be closed.

The international community continues to urge the Taliban to respect basic human rights but these have repeatedly been ignored.
