Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan today announced a bravery award and promotion to the police involved in the incident.

Three hardcore Maoists were killed in Monday’s encounter in Balghat district of Madhya Pradesh, police said.

The Maoists have been identified as Visagedar Dal Division Divisional Committee member Nagesh and Area Committee members Manoj and Ramey. He carried the prize 30 lakhs.

AK-47s and 12 bore action guns were seized by the police.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan announced the bravery award and promotion to the police involved in the incident.

“The Superintendent of Police of Balaghat, Inspector of Police, Commandant of Balaghat Range and Hawk Force guided the entire operation. CM said that the police and Hawk Force personnel involved in today’s campaign will be given promotion and bravery awards.

According to the police, on tip-off, security forces surrounded the Madhya Pradesh-Chhattisgarh border, known for the Maoist movement in the post-Bahela forests.

“The police asked them to surrender. But they started firing. The police responded and opened fire on the Maoists.

The movement of Maoists in Madhya Pradesh has increased over the past two years. They are stationed in a major part of the Kanha Tiger protected area and police teams are being set up in outposts of the state to control their movement.
