Six workers who were trapped under the debris of the collapsed bridge were rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment.
Two laborers were killed and six seriously injured when an iron shuttering of an under-construction bridge collapsed on the Rishikesh-Badrinath highway in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district on Wednesday morning, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) said.
The incident took place between Sirobagada-Narkota around 9 am.
“As soon as we got the information, our teams rushed to the spot. Eight laborers were trapped under the debris after the collapse. We rescued six who were seriously injured and shifted them to the hospital for treatment,” SDRF spokesperson Lalita Negi said.
The bridge is a part of the Char-Dham All Weather Road Project.
