The Punjab government’s anti-drug movement, Mohali police, has formed various teams to tackle drug traffickers and drug traffickers, officials said.
A total of 190 people have been arrested for drug sales in the past six months and 140 cases have been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, police said on Sunday during the International Anti-Narcotics Day.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vivek Sheel Soni said, “As part of the Punjab government’s anti-narcotics campaign, Mohali police have formed various teams to combat drug peddlers and drug smugglers. Under this campaign, a total of 190 people have been arrested from January to June this year and police have registered 140 NDPS cases at various police stations in the district.
“In addition, Mohali police have seized 4.35 kg of heroin, 12.37 kg of opium, 133.39 kg of poppy peel, 1.11 kg of charas, 19.67 kg of marijuana, 1 kg of sulfa, 26 grams of narcotics, 26 grams, 2830, 2830, 2830, and 00,000 of the alleged months.
